So the story goes..... Years ago my wife's grandfather set out to the local dealership in Port Arthur to get his wife a car. Needless to say she was not too happy when he returned a short time later with his new toy and not her everyday driver. Well she eventually got her car and this one has been in the family every since. A few decades later it was passed down to my in-laws and made its way to Sante Fe. It received a major overhaul of the basics as well as 4 wheel disc brake conversion. Then the car mostly sat again for several years. One day I was looking at it under the cover of their barn with three cats sitting on top of what was left of the car cover and decided it was time to bring it back again. After some convincing (I asked and they said yes) it was passed down to us and the project began. Most of the mechanical parts were replaced or upgraded as required by each break down... The stock 289 remains, but received a boost with Edelbrock intake and carb. Due to cooling issues I upgraded to aluminum radiator and flexalite fan. Dual Flowmaster exhaust helped out in the sound department. A not so good paint job along with new chrome trim, wheels, and tires got me to the weekend driver it is now! Like most of us I believe the project will never be finished and future plans include all new interior with another go around on the paint. It may not be a show car winner, but it turns a few heads. More importantly it allows us to hang out with all of you at each of the weekend cruises and get togethers! Looking forward to many more in 2016...
